The BJ Selection History plugin keeps track of scene items you had selected. The display is kept at a bare minimum instead of showing you complete hierarchies. This can help to get back to selections you had without going on a hunt all over again. Plus there's some additional useful stuff tucked away in the right-click menu. Check it out!
