Iray Rips and Tears

Iray Rips and Tears offers a suite of shaders compatible with most meshes that have reasonable UV layouts, including most clothing.

The included shaders add cutout maps to the target surface, creating the appearance of torn fabric. The set includes a range of effects, from large rips that create significant openings in clothing to smaller scattered tears that suggest wear, damage, or impact marks.

An accompanying suite of decals is also included, allowing you to simulate effects such as blood, dirt, or paint. These can be layered with the tear effects to add more context and visual storytelling to your renders.

The shaders are easy to apply. Simply select your garment, navigate to the Surfaces panel, choose the desired surfaces, and apply the shader.

These shaders can also be used on other cloth-like meshes such as towels, sheets, or upholstered furniture. As long as the mesh has a reasonable UV layout, the shaders are broadly compatible.
